Vivienne Tam MP3 Walkman

December 6th, 2007

The pioneer of the East-meets-West aesthetic, Vivienne Tam has just enriched the world of elite gadgets by launching Tam MP3 Walkman. Featuring original design, the player pushed the boundaries of the standard device concept, creating real buzz both among trend-setters and technicians.

Vivienne Tam has won international recognition as the founder of “China chic” series, exquisite fashion collections characterized by Eastern exotic and Western functionality. Brought up in Hong Kong and currently living in New York, Vivienne Tam knows how to mix Chinese elegance and refined taste with American aspiration for ultimate serviceability; and her latest creation – Tam MP3 Walkman – proves it.

The player was co-developed with industrial designer Kitman Keung who charged himself with the technical aspect, while Vivienne worked on its style. As a result, the genuine 4GB Tam MP3 Walkman combines both up-to-date players’ specifications and a trendy look. That wasn’t the first Tam’s experience of designing electronics, as in 2006 she created a series of handset pouches for Motorola. This fact seems especially significant, considering that most experts compare the latest Tam’s invention either with a watch or with a clip-on cell-phone.

Here are some more details about the MP3’s design, as its appearance represents the main feature of the player. Tam MP3 Walkman is distinguished by a sleek lacquered surface, gorgeous curved shape which allows to fix it to the belt, a large black screen, and, what is its most crucial characteristic, the red color. Looking at its stylish curvaceous design and its bright striking color, one can be absolutely sure who is the target audience of the current Vivienne’s innovation. Without any doubt, that is a modern woman who will enjoy Tam MP3 Walkman in full. Fashion-conscious and bold, she is interested in eye-catching accessories rather than in technical devices and expects gadgets to compliment her exterior. That is why, the player’s showy look is the basic advantage of Tam MP3 Walkman over similar products. A typical woman doesn’t care how much space and what options her player has, the only thing she needs is an attractive device which will make heads turn and give it a second look. Taking into account this aspiration, Vivienne Tam has definitely hit the mark by producing sporty Tam MP3 Walkman.

However, as for the potential use of the device, Tam MP3 Walkman is an ordinary portable gadget which can decode only MP3 file formats and doesn’t have any extra smart options, like games, video capabilities etc. Some experts are inclined to believe the Tam MP3 Walkman’s form dominates its content, and, in addition, being launched by a popular designer, the player costs considerably more than an iPod. Besides, the name of Tam MP3 Walkman arouses suspicion, as “Walkman” is Sony’s copyright.

Despite these facts most people are looking forward to see the genuine device and to form their own opinion. The first place where Tam MP3 Walkman will be available is the Vivienne Tam flagship store in New York.

Dell DJ Ditty

September 5th, 2007

The Dell DJ Ditty is one of the few MP3 players that Dell has released to date, and this is by far not the best on the market. The design of the Ditty is small and compact making it not able to hold a lot of flash memory (512mb) for the songs to be stored upon and that in total is only about 220 songs. That may be a lot of songs when you first think about it, but for a lot of people who have gigabytes upon gigabytes of songs stored upon there computers and other storage devices, that is not a lot.

The screen on the Dell DJ Ditty is also quite small, along with the entire device, making it much harder for the consumers to view the name and details of the song they are listening to. The small design also has made the buttons a lot smaller and again, a lot harder to use for most. With the small buttons it makes it much harder for people who have rounder and chubbier fingers to use them, thus cutting that portion of the community out of its buying grasp. But on the upside, the small and sleek design of the Dell DJ Ditty makes it much easier to carry in ones pocket, bag or around their neck. It weights only 1.29 ounces so you will not even notice it is there. Just like most other MP3 players, it has all the normal features like USB 2.0, a 3.5mm stereo mini-jack and a large 14 hour rechargeable battery life.

Out of ten, I give the Dell DJ Ditty a five.

iPod 5th Gen

September 4th, 2007

The iPod 5th generation, more commonly known as the iPod Video is a massive update to the iPod range of MP3 players from Apple. This version of the famous iPod range, as the name suggests, can play videos but that is not all it can do.

The new iPod can also play games like bejeweled and other simple fun games that can pass time as you ride the train to school or work or what ever else. This new feature also has a downfall; the loading time for some videos can be fairly long to endure and the small screen of the iPod is not the best one to watch a movie on if you want to get all the minor details.

Because of the new video feature on the new iPod Video, the battery life has been shortened by a lot and this is something that you must be aware of if you wish to purchase one, because you do not want to be watching a good movie and have it cuts out as the end is showing. The standard iPod Video also does not come with any dock, AV cables and some of the other small external devices that come standard with other iPods. On a final con of this device, there is a chance that movies downloaded from other file sharing websites (that is not iTunes) and then converted using third party software to convert it into a playable file on the iPod, there is a chance the file may not work.

In conclusion, if you are looking to buy a MPG player that can also play videos it is best to shop around for one with a longer battery life, a larger screen and better bass quality. Out of ten, I give the iPod Video a seven.

iPod Nano 2GB

September 3rd, 2007

From the humble beginnings of the iPod all those years ago, Apple has created the iPod Nano, a smaller version of the regular iPod. The nano boasts alot of memory for such a small device, from 2 gigabytes (around 880 songs) or up to 8 gigabytes (around three thousand songs).

The size of the iPod Nano is quite similar as the Dell DJ Ditty, except for the fact that the iPod is much wider making the screen a lot easier to view and read, and that is a good thing. The casing of the iPod Nano is made of anodized aluminum making it very hard to destroy, but not impossible.

There is just one problem with the casing of the nano, and that is that it can scratch very easily. The nano has yet another feature you can pick when you buy it and that is that you can also pick one of five colors for the nano to be, so your iPod can reflex who your personality is. The battery life of the Nano is quite large for a small device, up to 24 hours of play time so you do not have to charge it every day. But the iPod Nano doesn’t only pay music, you can also show off slide shows, art and pictures that you have stored on it, making the iPod not only a MP3 player but a portable media center to keep you entertained for hours upon hours.

The iPod nano, in my opinion, is one of the best MP3 players on the market as of his moment because of its small design and it still is able to boast so much memory and a large LCD screen so you can see what song you are listening to and you can view pictures on them. Out of ten, I give the iPod nano nine.

Creative Zen Vision:M

September 2nd, 2007

The Creative Zen Vision:M has been dubbed the iPod killer by some member so the public because to them it is a great deal better than the iPod Video. The design of the Creative Zen Vision:M is stylish and tidy with a large screen so you can watch movies and clearly see the names of the songs you are listening to, much like the iPod. But the screen is on the Creative Zen Vision:M is much brighter and clearer than the one on the iPod making better viewing for movies and pictures. The screen is 2.5 inches wide and has resolution of 320×240 pixels and can display an impressive 256,000 colours (as compared to only 65,000 colours on the iPod Video).

But the screen is not the only thing that is massive on this wonderful device, the memory on this is huge, a massive thirty gigabytes which is up to 15,000 songs, tens of thousands of photos or 120 hours of video. But Creative did not stop there, they also added an PM radio tuner so if you don’t feel like watching a movie or listening to the songs you have stored, you can simply flick over to the radio feature and listen to your favorite FM radio station.

Creative Zen Vision:M is not all good, it has some cons as well, just like all products. For one, the Creative Zen Vision:M screen can scratch very easily so you have to be careful when you use it, the software that comes along with the state of the art MP3 player is not as good as it could and should be and the battery life is not very good if you want to watch many movies one after the other.

The Creative Zen Vision:M is a good buy and is a strong competitor against the iPod Video. Out of ten, I give the Creative Zen Vision:M a nine out of ten.

mobiBLU DAH-1500i 2GB Digital Audio Player

September 1st, 2007

The mobiBLU DAH-1500i 2GB Digital Audio Player is the worlds smallest MP3 player to date. The small cube design makes it almost weightless at a surprisingly low weight of only 0.6 ouches. The player has a side that is just an LCD screen so you can view what song you are listening to or an equalizer to enhance your listening experience. It is just like most other MPG players, apart from its size.

It boats 2 gigabytes of memory (880 songs), a 14 hour battery life so you can listen to music in your sleep, on the bus, on the train or in math’s class and it also has an FM radio tuner so you can tune into your favorite FM radio station when you don’t want to listen to the music you have on it. This MP3 player is best suited for the people who do not like to notice their MP3 player in their bag or pocket because this one is so small, you are likely to miss it. There are also a few cons on this little beast of a MP3 player, like the volume and sound quality is not the best in the world but is far from the worst, but when you spend money on an MP3 player you want to make sure that the money is well spent.

Another problem with the mobiBLU DAH-1500i 2GB Digital Audio Player is the controls. Many users have complained that they are too stiff and do not work all the time, and that is not the best thing to have on an already small MP3 player.

All in all, this MP3 player, in my opinion, is not worth the money you pay for it. There may not be a lot of cons on this MP3 player, but the ones that are there really drag it down to a sub-par player. Out of ten, I give mobiBLU DAH-1500i 2GB Digital Audio Player a five.

Samsung YP-Z5A

August 31st, 2007

The Samsung YP-Z5A is a work of art to say the least, its silver finish and its stylish look makes it a tough competitor for the iPod and other MP3 players on the market.

For less than $80 dollars you can pick up the Samsung YP-Z5A that boasts 4 gigabytes of flash memory and that is about 1760 songs for you to listen to when ever you wish and with its long thirty five hour battery life you won’t have to recharge it as much as some of your friends have to charge theirs. The screen on the Samsung YP-Z5A can also be an Equalizer so as you listen to the music you like you can see the swirls and bars dance like crazy. This is one of the better MP3 players on the market dude to its long life battery, reasonable amount of flash memory and the sleek and stylish design.

Many of the users of Samsung YP-Z5A MP3 player have viewed this one as one of the best they have used, ever. But some have also ranted about Samsung YP-Z5A because to some, this is not the best one for them. For example, many people do like to have a radio as a back up if they get sick of listening to the music they have stored, but this one does not have a radio, thus making the MP3 player not the best on the market for them. But for the majority of users this is the best mp3 player for them because of the many other features it has and that is why the Samsung YP-Z5A is viewed as a good and, for some, a perfect MP3 player for them.

Out of ten, I give Samsung YP-Z5A humble beats a nine.

iRiver CLIX 2

August 30th, 2007

iRiver CLIX 2 has been dubbed unique and elegant by many of its users and none kind find a major fault in its near flawless deign. The box type design makes the screen massive so you can sit back and relax as you watch movies and other videos on the amazing screen with all its sharpness and hundreds of thousands of colors making it one of the best small screen MP3 Players on the market today.

There are only three major flaws that the users of this product have bought to light and they are that the screen is a fingerprint magnet, some features of this wonderful MP3 player requires Windows media Player 11, (which is not good for those who do not have Windows as an operating system) and the flash memory on this device is not so great, even though it is two gigabytes. The flash memory may be small, but what is not small is the battery life on this little beast, twenty five hours of pure entertainment.

As reported by several users of the elegant and unique iRiver CLIX 2, the sound quality is near perfect with no real hiccups in it and that is what is needed in a MP3 Player of this kind. The interface is also raved about because of its simple and easy to use way of being. But if you ever get sick and tired of the songs and videos you have stored upon the iRiver CLIX 2, you can always play a flash game to pass the time and quite frankly that is one thing that is awesome about this player.

Out of all the MP3 players I have viewed, this has to be one of the better ones I have come across, although it could use with some more storage for videos and songs. Out of ten, I give iRiver CLIX 2 MP3 player a nine.

Philips PMC7230 PMP

August 29th, 2007

The Philips PMC7230 PMP’s screen is the first thing that will grab your attention from this work of art. The massive 3.5 inch screen makes viewing movies and TV shows perfect and the 30 gigabyte memory on this beast will keep you entertained for a long time. But do not let Philips PMC7230 PMP’s screen and memory fool you, it is not all what it seems. In order to watch a movie properly, you need to have acceptable sound quality and sadly this device does not have it. The sound quality is sub par and that brings the entire device down because quite frankly, when you purchase an MP3 player you expect the sound to be decent if not perfect, but the Philips PMC7230 PMP does not live up to that idea.

The design is sleek and stylish, just like most other MP3 players out on the market at the moment but the screen does easily scratch and that is never a good thing. But the Philips PMC7230 PMP does have some good things about it like a video recorder and this is in no other device like this so far, but that is basically the only good thing about this device. It is at least $50 more than all other devices with video features with 30 gigabytes of memory and it does not even have FM radio like most others. The battery life on this is alright, but could be better. It only has four hours of power if you watch videos and fourteen if you listen to music, and most other devices like this one can last a lot longer.

This MP3 player is not the best one on the market and with all its cons, it is not worth the money you pay for it. Out of ten, I give the Philips PMC7230 PMP a low four.

How To Transfer MP3 File

August 14th, 2007

Most MP3 Players come with a piece of software, which makes it easy to transfer MP3 file from your computer onto your MP3 player.

However, if you don’t have any software like this, then follow the instructions below.

1) Get the music files you want. This can be off the internet or off a CD.

2) Make a new folder. Call it something simple like “Music Files”.

3) Place the music files you have into this folder, using Windows Explorer or a similar application.

4) Connect your MP3 player to the computer. This is usually done via the USB port.

5) The computer should assign a drive to your player.

6) Using Windows Explorer or a similar application, drag your music files from the folder you made into the assigned player drive.

7) Disconnect your player, sit back, and listen.

To compress your file sizes, you should read the manual that comes with your MP3 player.
